Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters Review

In my make up collection, the most number of products I have are from the lip section. I have over 70 lipsticks in my collection, most of which are drugstore lip products. In my opinion, the best brand for drugstore lipsticks are from Revlon.* They have the best variety of colors, creaminess.

Today, I am going to review the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. I have 7 lipsticks from this line. These are not new---I think these lipsticks came out several months ago. In my opinion, these are the best lipsticks from Revlon. So, if you're looking for a good hydrating lipstick, but you're on a tight budget, the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter is your best bet. (Of course, I think the best one is still the Dior Addict Lipstick.)

PIGMENTATION:

For me, if a lipstick is opaque or if it has full pigmentation, you can use this at night or if you are on a date. However if you are looking for a more natural look, you should lean on the more sheer lipsticks because these will not overpowering your look.

The lip butters are on the medium side---they have
just the right amount of color. They are not that opaque to overpower your look, but they are not that sheer for them to be called lip glosses. Even the bright red (Number 007: Cherry Tart) have just enough pigmentation and is not overpowering.

So this means that your natural lip color will slightly show when you're wearing these lip butters. If I use this lip butter, the color of my lips may look different compared to when someone else uses the same lip butter on their lips.

HYDRATION:

If you have dry lips, these lip butters would be perfect for you. At the start of the day, when I have dry lips, these lip butters would still go on smoothly. Then after a few hours, when I reapply, the dry skin would just fall off. I use a tissue to remove the dry skin and reapply. I would have smooth and hydrated lips by the end of the day.

In comparison, the Dior Addict Lipstick won’t do this (sorry if I keep on mentioning Dior Addict). If I have dry lips when I use the Dior Addict, I don’t notice any dry skin falling off. But when I reapply the Dior Addict, I would still have extremely smooth and hydrated lips.

STAYING POWER:

Revlon Lip butters would stay for around 2-3 hours.

SWATCHES:

The 1st one is 095: Creme Brulee. This color is a plain nude. There is no shimmer here, just a creamy nude. I recommend using this with a dark eyeshadow or blush.

Next one is 025:
Peach Parfait. This is a light peachy color with golden shimmer. This is a very nice light color that you can use everyday. It can match any make up you have on.

Next is 055:
Cupcake. This is a very light pale pink. There is also no shimmer in this lip butter.

Next is 090:
Sweet Tart. This is a medium bright pink which is creamy and without shimmer. I love this because this color is very similar to my Dior Addict Lipstick.

Next is 015:
Tutti Frutti. This is an orange with no shimmer. The orange of this lipstick is very wearable. If want to use an orange lipstick for the first time but are afraid to experiment... Tutti Frutti would be the right orange for you.

Next is 050:
Berry Smoothie: This is a purplish berry with some shimmer that is in the same shade. This goes well with any brown make up.

Last is 070: Cherry Tart. This is a red also with some shimmer. Again like Tutti Frutti, if you want to use a red lipstick but are afraid because you haven’t tried one yet, Cherry Tart maybe the ideal first red for you.

From all of these, Peach Parfait, Sweet Tart and Berry Smoothie are the ones that I usually use on a day to day basis. These lip butters are around P500 plus at Watsons.

* I am not a make up artist. I did not have any kind of training in make up (although I plan to in the future). I am just a consumer who buys products depending on (1) reviews I find in the internet (like in YouTube) or (2) swatches I do in stores. The products I recommend are chosen not because these look better in photographs, these are generally based on what I experience on a day to day basis when I use these products.
