Weekend Haul: The Landmark and SM Department Stores

It's Sunday night right now and I'm kinda sad that the weekend's about to end (it flew by so quickly). Well, at least I have a few things to show from my weekend jaunts. I was able to squeeze in one visit to the cosmetics section of SM Department Store (they were having a sale) as well as one fly-by visit to the Covergirl stall of The Landmark Department Store.

Here are the things I bought from SM Department Store:

From left to right: e.l.f. Stipple Brush, Watsons Facial Hair Remover, BYS Longwear Lipsticks in In Love and Baby Doll, and Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer Mist. Since the price of everything I bought here exceeded P1500, I got a 10% discount! Yay!

I got the e.l.f. brush (at P249.75) because I wanted to try out a cheap stippling brush to see if it would be a good applicator for my MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation. This one from e.l.f. is made of all synthetic bristles, unlike MAC's stippling brushes that are made of white synthetic bristles and black natural bristles. I am a bit concerned though that the brush seems too flimsy for applying a cream formula.

The facial hair remover (P89.00) was an impulse buy. I remembered seeing someone on YouTube reviewing something that looked like this and I thought it would be a good alternative to waxing the hair on my upper lip. The thing I don't like about waxing is the messy and sticky residue it leaves afterwards. I tried using this and it was a bit hard at first because it was like I was torturing myself with every swipe of the spring (you need to swipe over and over again to get every hair). But after a while, I got used to it so it didn't hurt as much.

I also bought two lipsticks from BYS Cosmetics, an Australian brand I never heard of until today. I was a bit skeptical since I knew nothing about these products but since the lipsticks were only P299.00 each, I decided to give them a try. I checked the ingredients and unfortunately, they do contain parabens. Still, the colors looks really pretty. I swatched the samples on the back of my hand and they were really creamy.

The most expensive item I bought in SM Department Store is the Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer Mist (P798.00). This is the spray on version of the Nymph Aura Volumer, which is used to give the skin a lovely glow.

I wanted to buy the non-mist version of the Nymph Aura Volumer for a long time. However, I was hesitant to get it because it was designed to be mixed with a BB Cream and it seemed like a really messy process in my opinion, especially since I usually apply my makeup in the car during my ride to work. Anyway, when I found out today that there was a mist version of this product, I decided that this was a better option for me. The sales associate also said that this can be used as a setting spray.

Lastly, I only bought one thing from The Landmark Department Store:

I wrote about this product in my last post, which was all about cream foundations. I've read many reviews saying that this was a pretty good product, especially for the price. I bought this Covergirl and Olay Simple Ageless Foundation for only P925.00, which was less than half of what the MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation costs (P2000.00).

According to the advertising, this foundation has Olay Regenerist serum swirled in it, which provides the anti-aging benefits of this product. The packaging was a bit harder to manage though, because it had a screw top and didn't have a mirror.

I'm going to give this a try soon. Maybe I'll post a comparison review of this and the MAC foundation, which I am using right now. Check back soon to see my review!
