But for some reason, I suddenly became super interested with cream foundations. It was really out of the blue but perfect in timing, since I am finally almost done finishing up my Covergirl Nature Luxe Silk Foundation. (On a side note, it felt like ages since I started using that foundation, but now I realized it's been only 4 months. I wasn't crazy about that particular foundation but I'm not one to waste product as long as I can tolerate using it.)
Anyway, I took this to be a perfect opportunity to go shopping for a new foundation, and I decided that this time, I would try a cream foundation. Makeup artists rave about cream foundations because they are generally heavier in coverage, easy to blend, and are long wearing. Also with cream foundations, a little goes a long way so you get more bang for your buck.
Check out GossMakeupArtist in this video talking about his favorite cream foundations...
Unfortunately, many of the foundations he mentioned on this video are not available locally in the Philippines. Since I prefer buying makeup in a store where I can test and swatch a product before buying, I did a bit of research on different cream foundations that are available here in the Philippines and created a shopping list of those that I would like to try:
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Fresh Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup SPF 15: I'm starting out with probably the most expensive foundation out of the bunch. This costs $38 if you buy it in the US but I have no idea how much this costs here in the Philippines. I'm pretty sure this is available locally though, since I've seen Chanel counters in Rustans department stores. This is the cream compact version of the very popular Vitalumiere Aqua liquid foundation. Like the liquid version, this foundation is water-based as well. Reviews say that this foundation is very easy to blend, feels very light and looks really natural on the skin.

Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation: This cream foundation comes in a stick form that twists up to reveal more product. I saw this product in the Shu Uemura store in Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Makati but I wasn't able to check the price. But knowing the prices of Shu Uemura products, I'm pretty sure its quite expensive. Reviews say this product gives full coverage (it can even cover tattoos if needed) but can be sheered out if a lighter coverage is needed. Despite it being full coverage, it doesn't feel thick or cakey on the skin. It is also incredibly long wearing.

Shiseido Stick Foundation SPF 15: I've seen this before at the Shiseido counter in SM Makati, but I didn't pay too much attention back then. I am predicting that this would cost upwards of PHP2000, since their foundations are around this price range. Anyway, unlike the Shu Uemura stick foundation, this one only gives medium coverage, which makes it suitable for those who just want to even out their skin tone. It's a creamy, moisturizing foundation that is reviewed to be very easy to blend into the skin.

Covergirl Simple Ageless Cream Foundation SPF 22: I've seen this foundation in the Covergirl counter in SM Makati but the testers in the counter looked so icky that they have always turned me off from trying this foundation. This is a cream foundation with Olay Regenerist Serum swirled into it, which gives it its age-defying properties. It is advertised to not settle into fine lines and wrinkles, thus making the wearer look younger. It gives a nice dewy finish to the skin, but those who want a matte finish can always set it with powder.

MAC's Mineralize SPF15 Foundation: After going through a lot of articles and reviews, I decided to go with this foundation for now. It comes in compact form similar to MAC's Studio Tech or Studio Fix foundations. I chose this because this foundation is said to be great for normal to dry skin, gives light to medium coverage, and dries to a nice satin finish. I got this for PHP2000 at the MAC store in Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati. I'll be posting a more detailed review of this foundation after using this for a couple of weeks.

Of course, this doesn't end my obsession with cream foundations. This opened my eyes to a lot of new foundation options and I'm definitely going to try some of the other foundations on my shopping list (and maybe some others that aren't). ^_^
