Chanel Rouge Coco in 40 Charme and 77 Jersey Rose Review

I've been eyeing the Chanel Rouge Coco line of lipsticks for quite some time now. However, I wasn't able to own any until recently, when my mom decided to buy two for me. She also bought a couple for herself and I'm so happy I was with her when she decided to go lipstick shopping. ^_^ These were purchased for PHP1650 each from Rustans Makati.

After swatching almost the entire display of Rouge Coco's (and forgetting which swatch was which) I decided to go for my signature lipstick looks: a light soft pink (40 Charme - left) and a light peachy pink (77 Jersey Rose - right). Since these were quite expensive, I decided to go for colors that I knew I can wear practically everyday, rather than something that I might only wear every now and then.

Packaging:

As with most (if not all) Chanel cosmetics, the packaging is one of the highlights of this product. On the surface it probably doesn't look like anything much, but the lipstick tube is made out of metal instead of plastic. This makes the tube cool to the touch and gives it its signature click sound when you close it. The metal packaging also gives the lipstick a weightier feel that makes it feel more luxurious. 

Texture:

This lipstick's texture is quite unlike other lipsticks I have tried before. It feels fairly moisturizing but it doesn't feel slick, balmy, or wet on the lips like some moisturizing lipsticks. This lipstick is smooth and creamy, and it feels very light on the lips. 

Pigmentation and staying power:

The pigmentation of this lipstick ranges from a sheer wash (with one swipe) and can be built up to an opaque color (with around three swipes) without it feeling thick or heavy. Its versatility is definitely a plus for me. Staying power is fair. It lasts around 4 hours on my lips. 

Swatches:

I must say that the swatches on the Chanel.com website didn't look anything like the actual lipstick swatches. So if you're planning to buy online, it's probably a good idea to visit a store and swatch the lipsticks first before choosing what shade to buy. For your reference, I have swatched my two lipsticks (40 Charme - left; 77 Jersey Rose - right) on the back of my hand.
