Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Cream Cinnamon Review

Maybelline has a new(ish) affordable blush line called Blush Studio Cheeky Glow. Here in the Philippines, it is being sold for only PHP199.00. I found that these blushes are not usually sold in Maybelline counters found in department stores. Instead, I found these in drugstores like Mercury Drug or some Watsons branches. The disadvantage of which, is there are no sample products available for swatching. They come in the packaging as seen below.

According to Maybelline's claims in the packaging as seen below, this blush is lightweight, silky smooth, blends flawlessly, and has a natural finish. Unfortunately, the ingredients list below shows that this product contains parabens in the form of methylparaben, which I've been generally trying to avoid already. I have observed that most cheaper products contain parabens, which is so unfortunate indeed.

Anyway, the packaging of this blush is so simple and fuss free. It comes in a simple circular plastic packaging with a transparent cover that allows you to see the blush shade inside. According to the packaging, this blush contains 3.5 grams of product. I find this packaging very handy and easy to throw into your makeup bag. I don't mind that there is no brush included because the brushes that come with compact blush kits usually suck anyway.

After swirling a brush on the surface of the blush, I found that this isn't chalky or powdery at all. One swirl gives the brush just enough product to apply on one cheek. The photo below shows the blush after a couple of swirls of the brush. As seen below, there is little to no fall out or powdery residue left in the pan from this product, which means minimal wastage. ^_^ I also find the texture of the blush quite creamy when I swatch it with my finger, despite it being a powder product.

The color I got is a muted peachy pink shade that I think would suit warm skin tones beautifully. Although I can see some silver shimmer on the pan, I didn't find the shimmer too noticeable on the skin. I also find that this shade will show on light to medium skin tones, but darker skinned girls might find that this won't show on their skin. To illustrate, the right swatch below shows a heavy swatch done with a couple of swipes with my finger, while the left swatch shows a blended swatch done with a blush brush.

In terms of staying power, I find that this blush doesn't do good in this department. I find that the blush is almost gone only a couple of hours after application. It would be necessary to reapply this blush every couple of hours to maintain its color intensity. Still, for the price, I think some girls would be willing to reapply this every now and then.
