BYS Longwear Lipsticks Review

I hauled these lipsticks during a sale in Watsons last September, which I talked about in this haul post.

BYS Longwear Lipsticks

To be honest, I knew nothing about the brand BYS prior to seeing their stall in Watsons during that day. However, I was intrigued by the colorful displays and the cheap products which made me decide to try them out. I bought these lipsticks for PHP299.00 each.

Anyhow, I also decided to do a bit of research on this cosmetics company. Turns out that it is an Australian cosmetics company aimed at creating affordable cosmetics for the Australian and global market. If you're also curious, you can check out their website at www.bys.com.au.

Now getting back to these lipsticks, I decided to go for two very wearable shades: In Love and Baby Doll. In Love is a warm pink (almost coral) shade, while Baby Doll is a baby pink shade.

These lipsticks come in a packaging that is quite similar to the Wet n Wild lipsticks with the black and transparent lipstick tubes. My pet peeve with this packaging is the exposed part of the lipstick that doesn't totally retract. This makes it more difficult to remove and replace the cover without denting the lipstick.

Packaging looks a bit like the Wet n Wild lipstick below

Anyway, here are arm swatches of both shades, with In Love on the left and Baby Doll on the right. I was surprised at how these lipsticks were so smooth and pigmented when I swatched them. They also glided on easily and felt really moisturizing when I tried them on my lips.

However, they both have glitter particles (they are more noticeable on In Love). I would have liked these lipsticks better if they didn't have glitter. The problem with this is after the lipstick has worn off, some of the glitter is left on the lips (and the surrounding areas). Next time, I might try different glitter-less shades.

Unfortunately, as seen in the ingredients lists of these lipsticks below, they do contain parabens, which many health conscious people are already trying to avoid. There is a big debate on whether parabens actually do cause serious health risks or not, which I'd rather not comment on. All I know, is that it's better to be an informed consumer and make informed decisions.
