Covergirl Nature Luxe Silk Foundation Review

Covergirl Nature Luxe Silk Foundation

I've been hearing about Covergirl's Nature Luxe Silk Foundation for a couple of years now. However, since I've been a bb cream user since I've started using makeup up until a few months ago, I haven't had the chance to try this foundation until now. My sister actually bought this foundation a few weeks ago because she has heard rave reviews about it from other bloggers and YouTube gurus.

However, since this foundation didn't live up to her expectations, she decided to pass it on to me. I've been using it for around two weeks now and here's what I think about it...

Sun protection:
This foundation has a puny SPF 10. I think this is a pity, considering most foundations lately have at least SPF 20 or above. Sun protection is the most important anti-aging measure and this foundation is quite lacking in this aspect.

Texture:
This foundation has a very light, runny and almost mouse-like texture. I've been applying it on my skin using my fingers. It spreads easily and dries quickly on the skin. After it settles on the skin, it feels almost like a primer because the finish is quite matte and dry.

Shades:
My sister got this foundation in the shade 305 Alabaster. This is the lightest shade available and it has pink undertones. My sister and I have light skin with yellow undertones but there was nothing in the shade range that exactly fit our skin tone. Looking at the shade selection from Covergirl's website, it doesn't look like this foundation has enough shades to fit all the different skin tones here in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, I only have one tube of this foundation so I wouldn't be able to swatch the other shades for you. If you want to try this foundation out, make sure to swatch it over your jawline to see which best matches both your face and your neck. Personally, I'd rather match my foundation to my neck because I think if my face is lighter or darker than the neck it would look quite weird.

Staying power:
I have normal to dry skin and I think that the staying power of this foundation is not its strongest suit. I found this foundation to fade over time, almost disappearing by the end of the day. I observed some transferring throughout the day as well, when I use my phone or wipe my face lightly with a tissue.

Fragrance:
This foundation has a distinctive cucumber fragrance. I am personally not crazy about the smell of cucumbers. Nevertheless, the smell of this foundation does not bother me much.
